Danny first film was “The Buchenwald Ball” (2006) which he co-produced and co-directed with Andrew Wiseman. Danny produced and directed his second film “The End of the Rainbow” (2010) before coproducing and co directing “Carnaby Street Undressed” (2011). He is currently in production on “Shalom Bollywood: the untold story of Jews and Bollywood” and is in post-production on Rewriting History.
Danny has strong research skills which he uses in his film making. He is an associate professor at Deakin University in Melbourne where he maintains a research focus on diasporas, racism and anti-Semitism. These subject areas feature in Danny’s film making, as do his less academic passions such as music and culture.
Danny has a PhD on racist ideologies and has also researched and written widely on community, cultural diversity, diasporas and Israel-Diaspora relations, racism and anti-Semitism, multiculturalism and migration which informs much of his film making. In addition to academic papers and government reports, Danny writes newspaper and magazine opinion pieces on issues around which he has academic expertise &/or which involve issues his films are about. In his creative past, Danny wrote and produced the play Chosen Dilemma, performed at the Jewish Arts Festival in London in 1990.
In 2001 Danny was conferred an Australian Commonwealth Centenary of Federation Medal for education into and leadership against racism in Australia.
