AAward winning director Danny Ben-Moshe turns his lens onto Australia’s arts sector with urgency and precision in CANCELLED, examining the experience of Jewish creatives following the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. The film follows legendary musician Deborah Conway, visual artist Nina Sanadze, writer Joshua Dabelstein and circus performer Talia Sofizade as they navigate a rapidly shifting environment in which their cultural spaces no longer offer safety. Capturing their resilience and creative practices in real time, as well as the anti-Jewish hate they confront, CANCELLED forges an intimate portrait of a community. It offers a wider reflection on the proliferation of antisemitism in the arts sector, exposing its implications on cultural life, freedom of expression and social cohesion. CANCELLED is the only feature film in Australia to document and give voice to this subject. The film culminates with the Bondi attack.
